A contemporary art exhibition inspired by archival items of the General State Archives.

On Monday, October 18, 2021, the exhibition titled “GSA-ART: Narratives & Readings” curated by the art historian-archaeologist, Louiza Karapidaki, opened for the public in the galleries of the Hellenic American Union. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Deputy Director General of the General State Archives, Amalia Pappa, the President of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, Nikos Koukis and the Chairman of the Board of the Hellenic American Union, Leonidas Phoivos Koskos.

The exhibition was organized in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution, with 29 contemporary artists creating works of art inspired by archival items of the General State Archives. These items carry the history of important moments of the Struggle period or represent emblematic personalities and unsung heroes. The pieces of art were created especially for the exhibition and were based on specific archival material, which is also exhibited together with each work of art.
