The exhibition “GAK-ART: Narratives & Readings”, co-organized and presented by the General State Archives, the Hellenic Foundation for Culture and the Hellenic American Union, from November 18 to December 18, 2021, at the galleries of the Hellenic American Union, is now available in digital format.

Those who did not have the opportunity to visit the exhibition in person or would like to see it again, can take a virtual tour of the exhibition, familiarize themselves with the exhibits and listen to the artists participating in the exhibition talk about their work and their creative path.

*The exhibition was curated by the art historian-archaeologist Louisa Karapidaki, as part of the activities to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the outbreak of the Greek Revolution. Contemporary artists were inspired by archival documents of the General State Archives, creating new interesting readings. Their artworks were created especially for the exhibition and were presented alongside the archival material from which their themes were derived.

The exhibition catalogue was published by the Hellenic Foundation for Culture. Its structure follows the narrative thread of the exhibition, which, based on the thematic choices of the artists, was articulated in five major thematic axes: Symbols, Faces, Warfare, Philhellenism, Women’s Presence.
