Society for Epirotic Studies – Gallery

The collection of the Gallery of the Society for Epirotic Studies forms a real treasure, as it includes works by some of the greatest Greek painters”, as stated by Dr Eleni Margari, art historian and curator of its permanent exhibition. The artworks comprise a whole of about 600 paintings, engravings and sculptures.

Part of the works of painters and sculptures collected by the Society for Epirotic Studies is exhibited in the Gallery halls, including paintings by the Epirot artists Qenan Mesare, Kostas Malamos, Nikos Houliaras, Themos Maipas, Temi Maneka, Eleni Botsiou, Kyriakos Rokos, Theodoros Papagiannis, Vassilis Charisis, Apostolos Pantazis, Nitsa Siniki-Papakosta and others.

By wandering in the Gallery halls, visitors can discover unique works, such as the portrait of the scholar and historian Panagiotis Aravantinos by the painter Charalambos Pachis from Corfu, the portrait of the archaeologist, University Professor Dimitrios Evangelidis by Georgios Gounaropoulos, paintings by renowned artists of the early 20th century like Umvertos Argyros, Nikos Lytras, Spyros Vasileiou, Ioannis Spyropoulos, Paris Prekas. In the Gallery and throughout the House, there are several sculptures on display by Kyriakos Rokos, Theodoros Papagiannis, Nicolas, Nikolaos Georgantis, Nitsa Siniki-Papakosta, Vangelis Kostoulas. The exhibition demonstrates the contribution of the Society for Epirotic Studies to the initiation of art afficionados and the general public into art.
