The exhibition is organized in the context of celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution of 1821. 111 works by Thanasis Makris will be exhibited, including drawings in pen, pastels and colored pencils that depict figures of fighters of the Revolution.

These are not well-known and recognizable heroes of 1821, but ordinary Greeks who fought for the liberation of the country and now stand in front of the audience, waiting for acceptance and recognition. The painter designs the people with an emphasis on their expressions, attitudes and clothing. In this framework, he has created a series of drawings with the painter Theophilos as his subject, depicting him as a leader of the Revolution. Shaping this idea of ​​the simple Greek fighter, Makris creates his own Revolution of ’21, and gives a face to the anonymous, insurgent crowd.
