It was with great pleasure that the agreement was signed between the representative of Pope Francis, Cardinal Fernando Vérgez Alzaga and the representative of the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece, Father Emmanuel Papamikroulis, at the Vatican, in the halls of the Musei Vaccani, for the final return of the three fragments from the metopes, Frieze and pediments of the Parthenon. The text was co-authored by the Minister of Culture and Sports, Mrs. Lina Mendoni and the director of Musei Vaccani, Mrs. Barbara Jatta.

Then, through the signed agreement by Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens and all Greece and the General Director of the Acropolis Museum, Professor Nikolaos Chr. Stambolidis, the three fragments are immediately attributed to the Acropolis Museum, so that they can be reunited forever in the monument to which they belong, the Parthenon.

As a result of the above, the protocol for the delivery and receipt of the three antiquities was signed between the representative of the Church of Greece, Protopresbyter Emmanuel Papamikroulis and the General Director of the Acropolis Museum, Professor Nikolaos Chr. Stambolidis, so that they can return directly to the Acropolis Museum as soon as the transfer procedures are completed.
