May 2026 – On the eastern coast of the Peloponnese, with its endless, lace-like beaches, Amanzoe has for years welcomed guests eager to discover a region that has been at the “heart” of Greek civilization for millennia. Now in its fourteenth year of operation, the Aman luxury resort, inspired by the architecture of the ancient Athenian Acropolis, continues to strengthen its connection with local culture by presenting the new contemporary art exhibition Life Cycles in collaboration with the Zoumboulakis Galleries. Marking a significant milestone for both partners, the exhibition will feature four leading Greek female artists from four different generations, who will display their works throughout the resort from May 22 to October 31, 2026.
Designed to further enhance the guest experience, the Life Cycles exhibition will be organically integrated into Amanzoe’s iconic spaces, presenting sculptural installations by four acclaimed artists: Marina Karella, Alexandra Athanasiadi, Nikomachi Karakostanoglou, and Despoina Flessa. In a rare gathering, the four female artists are exhibiting together for the first time, initiating a meaningful and intergenerational artistic dialogue. Their works explore the concepts of continuity and evolution, composing a powerful narrative experience that harmonizes perfectly with Amanzoe’s timeless yet contemporary aesthetic.
In the quiet Library and on its adjacent terrace, the distinguished Greek painter and sculptor Marina Karella will present a series of sculptures that capture light, shadow, and folds—all timeless symbols of Greek aesthetics. Her artistic career, which has enjoyed international recognition for decades, explores the ephemeral and the metaphysical, with works such as The Gold Cloth and Hibiscus, which combine classical references with a distinctive postmodern sensibility.
Across from the lavender garden, the sculptures from Alexandra Athanasiadi’s “Armour and Horses” series will be subtly integrated into the harmony of the idyllic landscape. Known for her handmade, forged figures, Athanasiadi explores the interplay between inner identity and outward expression. Her multi-layered compositions evoke the passage of time and the concept of resilience.
Meanwhile, on the terrace next to the pool, Nikomachi Karakostanoglou’s luminous marble works, titled *Sacred Vessels*, draw inspiration from ancient votive offerings, while her intuitive, experimental practice invites the viewer to explore concepts such as memory and rebirth through touch, as well as the timeless relationship between matter and light.
Further expanding on the exhibition’s theme of time and the traces it leaves behind, Despoina Flessa will present aluminum sculptures from her collection Fossils and Shades, which will be exhibited in the Library, along with a selected series of graphite sculptural drawings titled Folding Landscapes. Drawing on archaeology and imagination, Flessa’s works are inspired by the ever-changing nature of presence and absence, offering poetic reflections on what is preserved, rediscovered, and reinterpreted from generation to generation.
Designed by the renowned architect Ed Tuttle, Amanzoe—with its colonnades, tranquil courtyards, and gardens offering panoramic views—provides a natural, ideal setting for the harmonious coexistence of art, nature, and design. The resort’s name—a combination of the Sanskrit word for “peace” and the Greek word for “life”— —also reflects the philosophy of the Life Cycles exhibition, a collaboration that is perfectly in tune with the spirit of Aman, which aims to offer guests a deeper connection with the cultural heritage and spirit of the destination.
Alongside the exhibition, a carefully curated program of exclusive activities will invite visitors to engage with art as part of their everyday experience, rather than within the traditional setting of a gallery. From private meetings with the artists (Meet the Artist) to small group tours, these experiences will offer a deeper insight into the contemporary Greek art scene, placing guests at the heart of the local artistic community. Guests can discover the Life Cycles exhibition organically as they explore the resort’s grounds, while non-staying guests will have the opportunity to visit the exhibition by making a reservation at one of Amanzoe’s restaurants, such as Nura at the Beach Club and Akari, the signature Japanese restaurant by the pool. All artworks will be available for purchase directly through the Zoumboulakis Galleries or with the assistance of a specially designated partner from the Amanzoe team.
