The Platforms Project – Independent Art Fair, the largest international visual arts exhibition of the independent art scene in Greece and one of the very few events worldwide that focuses exclusively on artistic platforms and collectives, returns from September 17 to 20, 2026, at the iconic Hellenic Parliament Tobacco Factory (218 Lenorman Street, Athens), serving as a hub for artistic exchange and creation.

For fourteen consecutive years, the Platforms Project has been creating the conditions for a meaningful dialogue among artists, curators, theorists, and independent initiatives from around the world. It serves as an international space for meeting, exchanging ideas, and developing collaborations, where contemporary forms of collective artistic practice are highlighted and lasting channels of communication between different artistic communities are fostered. Through this ongoing process of exchange and networking, it contributes substantially to the formation of a vibrant international network that strengthens contemporary independent artistic creation.

The Platforms Project 2026 will be presented this year for the third time at the Tobacco Factory of the Hellenic Parliament, featuring workshops, performances, talks, and workshops by the participating groups. The Hellenic Parliament Tobacco Factory is made available for the Platforms Project 2026 – Independent Art Fair with the kind support of the Hellenic Parliament. The project is directed by Artemis Potamianou and Michalis Argyrou. Artemis Potamianou serves as the artistic curator of the Platforms Project 2026.

The Platforms Project 2026 will showcase 66 artistic platforms from 22 countries (Greece, Cyprus, the United Kingdom, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, Finland, the United States, Austria, Germany, France, Australia, South Korea, Poland, Belgium, Turkey, Ireland, Brazil, Portugal, Albania, Colombia, Japan, and Romania), with the participation of more than 1,100 artists.

The goal of the Platforms Project is to document and highlight the independent international arts scene, strengthen collaboration among artistic groups, and develop a sustainable international network for exchange.

Alongside the main exhibition, the Platforms Project 2026 will present a multifaceted program of conferences, talks, performances, presentations, guided tours, educational activities, and workshops, transforming the exhibition space into an open venue for encounters, research, and artistic dialogue. The event places particular emphasis on the live presence of the artists themselves, offering the public the opportunity to converse with them and gain firsthand insight into the processes of contemporary independent artistic creation.

Alongside the exhibition at the Tobacco Factory of the Hellenic Parliament, the exhibition “M#3, Moments, Meetings, Memories” will take place at the Lofos art project exhibition space, featuring artists who participated in the Platforms Project in previous years, curated by Liesbeth Bos and Konstantin Economou.
