On Saturday 22 March 2025 at 19:30 the opening of the exhibitions “Painting as an enigma. Diamantopoulos and his era” and “Marios Prasinos – The Magic of Scripture“, at the Municipal Gallery of Larissa – G. I. Katsigras Museum.

The event was attended and addressed by the Deputy Minister Mr. Christos Kellas, the Mayor of Larissa and President of the Municipal Gallery of Larissa-G. I. Katsigras Museum, Mr. Athanasios Mamakos, the Vice-Chairman Mrs. Anni Archimandritou. The curator and chairman of the art committee, Professor Manos Stefanidis, and the collector George Kostopoulos, who presented the importance and value of his collection in the exhibition “Marios Prasinos- The Magic of Scripture”, spoke about the exhibitions. Also present were the members of the Artistic Committee, Mr. D. Zouroudes and Mr. Ch.Papanikolaou, the president Mrs. Olga Kochelidou and members of the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Municipal Gallery of Larissa, representatives of institutions, collectors, as well as a number of art lovers who honoured the evening with their presence.

The exhibition “Painting as an enigma. Diamantopoulos and his era“, hosted at the Irene Katsigra Hall, is dedicated to the great, though lesser known, Greek painter Diamantis Diamantopoulos, as well as to the generation of artists who influenced and were influenced by his work. The exhibition includes works by 15 artists who bridge the famous Generation of the 1930s with the present day and has been curated by the emeritus professor, art historian and chairman of the art committee, Mr. Manos Stefanidis.

At the same time, the exhibition “Marios Prasinos – The Magic of Scripture” was inaugurated in the “Filolaos Tloupa” hall on the atrium of the 1st floor, presenting the multidimensional work of the important artist of the Greek diaspora. Through paintings, engravings, carpets and illustrated books from the collection of George Kostopoulos, the exhibition pays tribute to the unique artistic career of Prasinos.

The exhibitions will run until 31 May 2025 and admission is free to the public.
