The season when nature rewards people’s hard work has arrived in Agia, which is once again celebrating one of its most vibrant products—the cherry—with three days of events.

The 45th Cherry Festival begins in Metaxochori on Friday, June 12, and will conclude on Sunday, June 14, accompanied by a variety of cultural and folkloric events.

               FRIDAY 12 JUNE

8:00 p.m. Presentation on “Digital Agriculture and Carbon Farming in Practice” by Ilias Platis, FarmB – Market Development Manager

8:30 p.m. Lecture on “Utilization of Cherry Byproducts” by Dr. Stavros Lalas, Professor, Department of Food Science and Nutrition, University of Thessaly

9:15 p.m. Presentation of traditional dances by the adult dance groups of: Agion M. Dallas Dance Group, Gerakario Women’s Dance Group, Omolio M. Antypas Dance Group, and the Anatolian Association “John the Baptist”

SATURDAY 13 JUNE

7:30 p.m. Official reception at the G.A.K. Presentation by Ms. Evgenia Liazis and Ms. Alexandra Mamouris, titled “The Archives Tell Stories About the Women of Agia”

8:30 p.m. Blessing of the Waters – Greetings – Speeches – Visit to the exhibitors’ booths

9:00 p.m. Guided tour of the Girls’ School. Exhibition – tribute to the Architectural Heritage of Metaxochori.

SUNDAY 14 JUNE

11:00 a.m. Painting workshop on the theme of cherries, for elementary school children, led by Maria Stamoglou, art teacher at the 2nd Elementary School of Agia

12:00 p.m. Taekwondo demonstration by the KOAN Agia Sports Club

1:00 p.m. Activities for children organized by the 1st Agia Scout Troop
