The research laboratory of Software Engineering and Internet Technologies (SEIT) (https://www.cs.ucy.ac.cy/seit/) of the Department of Computer Science, University of Cyprus, announces 1 (one) full-time position for a Special Scientist in Software Engineering for the Support4Resilience Horizon Europe research project.

SEIT focuses its research activities on Software Engineering and Internet Technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS

The candidates are expected to be highly-motivated individual΄s with proven capability to work in a demanding multi-disciplinary research environment and eager to be actively engaged in the demanding activities of European projects, collaborating efficiently with the SEIT team:

  1. Candidates should be graduates in Computer Science or Computer Engineering and have a Master degree in a relevant field.
  2. Knowledge of Software Engineering processes (Agile development, Git).
  3. Strong programming skills for building Web applications (Python, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP) and database management (SQL, NoSQL), including knowledge of web frameworks/libraries (React JS, NodeJS).
  4. Data analysis technical skills (application of machine learning techniques on large volumes of data).
  5. PhD will be considered a strong advantage.
  6. Existing experience in project management will be considered an advantage.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will work on the Support4Resilience Horizon Europe project:

The Support4Resilience project will reduce negative impacts on working conditions and improve service quality and patient safety through supporting leaders in reframing working conditions for healthcare workers and improve organizational structures in elderly care. The project will develop evaluate a research-based digital S4R Toolbox to support healthcare leaders in promoting resilient performance and mental wellbeing for healthcare workers and informal caregivers in European elderly care. The S4R Toolbox will be an online platform that provides leaders with different cost-effective individual and collaborative tools, designed to support leadership action.

In the framework of the project, the successful candidate will undertake the following tasks among other activities (the official language of the project is the English language):

  • Design, development and testing of the online platform of the digital toolbox and the tools of the toolbox.
  • Data management and data protection activities.
  • Project management activities and reporting (e.g., preparation of deliverables).
  • Communication and dissemination activities.

Moreover, the successful candidate will be involved in research work in the areas the SEIT lab, including empirical software engineering and web engineering and in writing scientific papers and technical reports in English. Travelling is needed for the project activities. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be strongly encouraged to pursue PhD studies (in case  they are not already a PhD holder) or post-doctoral ones (in case  they  hold  a PhD). Finally, the candidate is expected to take an active role in the preparation of research proposals for further funding.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS

The position is on a contract basis of one year, subject to renewal. The monthly gross salary will be in the range € 2071,37 – 2802,44 for full time employment depending on qualifications and expertise. Employee contributions will be deducted from the above amount. The position does not include a 13th salary bonus.
