As part of the planning of the exhibition and artistic program of the Athens Municipality Arts Center for the period March–September 2027, the Athens Municipality Organization for Culture, Sports, and Youth is issuing an open call for proposals to institutions, groups, and organizations active in the field of contemporary art, with the aim of developing partnerships for the organization of exhibitions and visual arts events.

This initiative is part of a strategy to strengthen the Arts Center as an active public space for contemporary art that supports the city’s artistic production, fosters synergies and collaborative networks, and actively participates in contemporary artistic and social dialogue, both locally and internationally.

Through a dynamic and multifaceted program, the Arts Center seeks to host projects that engage with the complex challenges and transformations of contemporary Athens, addressing issues such as the city and public space, memory and its multiple narratives, habitation and the sense of belonging, migration, community, the environment, the climate crisis, overtourism, and the transformations of the urban fabric. Of particular interest are artistic and curatorial practices that engage research, memory, imagination, and experimentation as tools for understanding the present and exploring alternative visions for the future, while collaborations between two or more organizations are particularly encouraged, contributing to the exchange of knowledge, networks, and resources, and to the creation of joint productions that connect the local experience of Athens with the broader international dialogue of contemporary art.
