The Independent Department of International Relations and Hellenes Abroad, in collaboration with the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, is preparing a series of anniversary activities and memorial events during 2022, in memory of the Asia Minor Disaster, on the occasion of its 100th anniversary. In this context, it invites organizations, institutions, associations, clubs, creative ensembles, groups and artists to submit proposals until December 18, 2021.
Memorial activities and events may fall into four categories:
- Conferences – workshops: proposals that can be submitted by research centers, cultural and educational institutions, on the subject of historical events concerning the arrival of Greek refugees and their contribution to the economic, social and cultural development of Thessaloniki.
- Exhibitions with all kinds of heirlooms, items and audiovisual material held by legal entities or individuals.
- Educational activities for children and adults with the aim of raising public awareness, providing opportunities for education, information and training on issues concerning historical memory.
- Cultural events: proposals and initiatives of groups of artists, creative ensembles of the city and individual artists active in various fields of culture, with reference to the historical anniversary.
