On Sunday 7 April, as part of the WOW-Women of the World Athens 2024 festival, the shocking dramatic monologue Prima Facie by the award-winning Australian playwright Suzie Miller will be presented at the Lighthouse of the SNFCC.The stage direction is by Io Voulgaraki, the role of Tessa is played by Alexia Kaltsiki, while Sofia Evklidou is the musical director.

The play follows the story of a young lawyer: Tessa is a working-class woman who has managed to become a leading defence lawyer. A fighter – her passion is to win cases – she works hard, cross-examines, sheds plenty of light on every shadow of doubt, on every case. Until, an unexpected event pushes her to the limit: where the patriarchal authority of the law, the burden of proof and morality diverge.

Prima Facie premiered in 2019 in Australia, at the Griffin Theater in Sydney. A new production, presented in 2022 at London’s WestEnd, starring Emmy and BAFTA-winning JodieComer, directed by Justin Martin, won the Olivier Award for Best New Play and Best Actress. It then transferred to Broadway scoring huge box office success and winning the Tony Award for Best Actress. The Wall Street Journal wrote of “one of the season’s most exciting performances”, while the Daily Beast called it “one of the most electrifying plays”.
