The art installation “Voices of Elefsina”, by the Berlin artist Karl Heinz Jeron, is presented in the frame of the project Mystery 37 VOICES OF ELEFSINA of 2023 Eleusis in collaboration with the Zoetrope Athens art team. A live radio experience on the street, which will take place in Elefsina from 27 January to 18 February.

A live radio experience on the street, which will take place in Elefsina from 27 January to 18 February.Through an original radio tour that starts from the city’s coastal front and ends at the Old Railway Station, voices of the city’s residents will convey experiences and experiences from the history and the present of the city, using radio waves as a vehicle. Specifically, ten radio transmitters with a range of just a few meters, designed and installed by the artist, will create a radio tour path in selected parts of the city (nodes). 24 hours a day, using the radio on their mobile phone or small portable radios and following a map, visitors and residents will be able to tune in to the different broadcasts of each node. All they will need to do is tune their radios to 107.8 MHz of FM.

On Saturday 27 January 2024 at 13:00, the opening day, a guided tour and a group radio tour will take place with Karl Heinz Jeron as guide and meeting point at the Refreshment Centre on the city’s seafront. At the end of the tour, there will be a light refreshment at the Old Railway Station, where the studio of the community radio station Mystery 37 VOICES OF ELEUSINA (voicesofelefsina.eu) is located.

The project “Voices of Elefsina” is part of the Mystery 37 Voices of Elefsina action, in the framework of which the homonymous community radio station of the city was recently inaugurated. Express your interest here.

About Karl Heinz Jeron

Karl Heinz Jeron was born in Memmingen, Germany in 1962. He lives and works in Berlin, Germany and in Athens, Greece. His art deals with everyday culture, media perception and the processing of information. Jeron’s works range from the singing and dancing robot Sim Gishel, to compositions for electrified rotten vegetables and sound tours of onshore wind farms. Recent exhibitions, projects and collaborations include Athens Digital Arts Festival, ZKM Karlsruhe, Ars Electronica Linz, Documenta X, ICA London, Walker Art Museum Minneapolis, Berlinische Galerie Berlin and Museum of Modern Art San Francisco.

Notes: The facility is open to the public 24 hours a day using a radio (either portable or the one on mobile phones). Visitors and city residents, after tuning their device to 107.8 MHz of FM, follow a map, and enjoy the different broadcasts of each node.
