The inter-institutional postgraduate program “Religious and Pilgrimage Tourism”, which operates in collaboration with the Department of Social Theology and Christian Culture of the University of Athens and the Department of Organizations Management, Marketing and Tourism of the International Hellenic University, organizes an official event on the topic “Presentation of the Pilgrimage Tourism of Jordan” on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 6-8 pm, in the C amphitheater of School of Theology (2nd floor).

The presentation of Jordanian Pilgrimage Tourism is carried out by the General Secretary. of the Jordanian Ministry of Tourism and by representatives of the country’s Tourism Organization (Jordan Tourism Board), with the presence of the honorary Consul of Jordan, Mrs. Despina Manda. The speakers will present the actions of the Jordan Tourism Organization to promote Jordan as a religious tourist destination and will show images and videos of the important religious landmarks of Jordan.

Mount Nebo, from where Moses saw the Promised Land, the hill of Prophet Elijah, from where it is said that the Prophet was taken up to heaven, the city of Madaba with its mosaic map will be presented, which is located in the Orthodox church of St. George and depicts the entire Holy Land, the ancient Greek, now ruined, city of Petra, which is carved into the rock, the Baptistery of Christ and other important sites associated with the Bible.

The event will be addressed by His Holiness the Metropolitan of Thessaloniki, the two Deans and the two Presidents of the collaborating Departments of the interdisciplinary study programme “Religious and Pilgrimage Tourism”, as well as the Secretary of the Synodal Office of Pilgrimage Tours as a representative of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece.
