BRAGGART Contemporary Art Gallery, presents the first solo exhibition entitled General Meeting by street artist Christos Triantafyllou, from 25 October to 18 November 2023, at the art box of Papakiriazi 55 & Skarlatou Soutsou, in the centre of Larissa. The opening will take place on Saturday 25 October at 19:00 in the presence of the artist. All the works of this section that will be presented in the exhibition have an experiential character. The symbolisms constitute a fundamentally reconfiguration of reality.

Christos Triantafyllou creates surrealistic landscapes drawing inspiration from various places he has visited, from conversations, from his father’s library, but also from the place where he grew up. He avoids realistic depiction, and emphasizes the creation of new paintings. The field of reconfiguration played a key role in the way he approached his sense of space and parallel planes. In this way, he manages to create his own spaces with superimposed planes, enlarging or reducing existing objects, thus giving them disproportionate dimensions in space and time.

More specifically, the exhibition explores the illusion of space, which in his works is mainly design-based with an alternation of layers of monochromatic surfaces, but also with the inclusion of gesture primarily in the background of the works. This has resulted in the creation of a diversity of scripts between the tile and the gestural elements he has incorporated into his works, as in the natural environment there is a hierarchy of visual elements in the drawing as well. Others are in front and others are further back. In the present case his works show asymmetry in perspective, dynamic colours but also polarisation in their functional structure. The space is oriented, variable and inhomogeneous. Another equally important element is the illusion of space, which in his works is mainly design-based with an alternation of layers of monochromatic surfaces, but also with the inclusion of gesture primarily in the background of the works.

The central character of the works is Roulis, who plays the role of an observer. He is a polemorphic character that changes according to the circumstances of each composition. This is because each work conveys a distinct feeling, another experience, a distinct state. It functions in a special way as an extension of his conscious world. From the surrealistic landscapes with ultraviolet buildings, to the spaceship of the escape route.

As can be observed, the graphic-cartoon character, as well as the large areas of solid colours, are the dominant elements of his compositions. The main aim is to create compositions that have a sense of dynamism, calm and stability; where the colours, shapes, and the space created between them, which in itself is a space creator, manage to balance in the midst of this intense acrobatics.
