On the weekend of May 23 and 24, the European project “Sound Waves” is coming straight from Berlin to the Music Library’s MusiXLab to offer a sound-based experience for children, aiming to foster an experiential appreciation of music in the most entertaining way possible!

The Sound Waves combine interactive music with artificial intelligence applications and lighting, set against specially designed sets and costumes. In a live installation that awakens the senses, participants enter together into a world crafted from live sound and rich in play.

Children aged 10 months to 12 years, divided into three age groups, become co-creators of a musical experience. By exploring the endless possibilities of nonverbal communication, they create their own unique musical piece through play, regardless of age or musical background. Through interactive play with sounds, they discover and explore basic musical concepts, such as rhythm, melody, and timbre, through direct interaction with sound.

Through the lens of AI and by engaging in a multisensory experience, participants use the keys of music to unlock magical worlds. They draw inspiration from one another and interact within an open, inclusive framework that makes the environment accessible to everyone, without exclusion, armed only with natural curiosity.

On Saturday, May 23, there will be a standalone workshop for all ages, which will be repeated once more on Sunday, May 24.
