The International Symposium on Interdisciplinary Approaches to Neurological Disorders (ISMIND 2026) in the field of Neuroimmunology and Autoimmune Neurology will take place starting tomorrow, Thursday, June 18, through Sunday, June 21, 2026, at the Makedonia Palace in Thessaloniki.
Leading international experts in neuroimmunology will present all the latest developments in this scientific field. More than 300 scientists from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, and Turkey will participate in the Symposium.
The Symposium will focus on immune-mediated disorders of the central and peripheral nervous systems. Through keynote lectures, panel discussions, and interactive sessions, the event will emphasize interdisciplinary dialogue, fostering collaboration and innovation among participating experts. Another unique aspect of the Symposium is its exploration of opportunities for transnational collaborations in the rapidly evolving field of neuroimmunology among countries in Southeast Europe.
The International Symposium is organized under the organizational and scientific supervision of the Second Department of Neurology at Aristotle University and under the auspices of the Hellenic Academy of Neuroimmunology (ELLANA), the Bulgarian and Turkish Neurological Societies, the Neurosynaptic Innovation Association, and the Society for Neuroscience and Society Research.
Neuroimmunology: The “Key” to Understanding Complex Neurological Diseases
The field of neuroimmunology is evolving rapidly, with new insights into the immune and inflammatory processes involved in neurological and neuromuscular disorders, transforming therapeutic approaches.
Neuroimmunology is the scientific field that bridges neuroscience and immunology. Neuroimmunological diseases include multiple sclerosis (MS), neurological manifestations of systemic diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis, as well as neurodegenerative diseases in which the involvement of the immune system has now been established, such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. Finally, neurological complications from immunotherapies in oncology are an important area in which neurologists are called upon to contribute their specialized expertise.
