According to the latest information from the Ministry of Culture, cultural development projects in Monemvasia are accelerating. The direct auction of the cable car project on the Rock of Monemvasia, with a total budget of 6,800,000 euros, which is part of the Recovery Fund, is launched jointly by the Ministry of Culture, the Region of Peloponnese and the Municipality of Monemvasia. The project will increase the traffic of the Upper Town of Monemvasia and make it accessible to people with disabilities and the disabled.

In a meeting held on August 7 at the Ministry of Culture led by the Minister Lina Mendoni, it was decided to speed up the procedures for absorbing the funds and adhere to the implementation schedules, with the total investment for cultural projects in the region amounting to 8,000,000 euros.

For the project, a Cultural Development Program Agreement has been signed between the Ministry of Culture, the Region of Peloponnese, the Municipality of Monemvasia and the Development Organization of the OTA “Parnonas”. The contract provides for the construction of a cable car that will connect the Upper and Lower Towns of Monemvasia and the official start of work on two other emblematic cultural projects: the lighting of the walls and the Rock of Monemvasia and the conversion of the house of Yannis Ritsos into a Museum dedicated to the great Greek poet.
