In the new Podcast of the “Libraries in Dialogue” series, a discussion was held with Vasilis Babouris, a translator, professor of translation, and instructor in generative artificial intelligence tools.

A retrospective look at the history of science fiction from the 2nd century A.D. to the present day, exploring its trajectory and evolution in relation to social and scientific changes, its genres and subgenres, its relationship with cinema and artificial intelligence.

It addresses the ethical dimension of Artificial Intelligence, the need for a legal framework to safeguard copyrights and personal data, the errors, inequalities, and biases that lurk within, the training of language models by humans, the environmental impact of using AI systems, the looming disruption in the labor market, and the “post-human” of tomorrow with new skills.

Finally, there is a discussion about the role of libraries and education as guardians of data integrity, the ethical use of data, and the development of critical thinking.
