A few words about the book and the author
The publication presents the action of Commander Dimitrios Alexopoulos, a dedicated Navy officer, as a radio operator in the National Resistance during World War II. The research and recording of his story by his grandson, Dimitrios K. Alexopoulos, highlights an unknown aspect of the Navy officers’ participation in the War.
Dimitris K. Alexopoulos was born in Athens in 1965. He studied Business Administration in Larissa and at Strathclyde Business School in Glasgow, obtaining an MPhil in Business Survival. He worked as a business consultant in Southampton, Glasgow and Athens. He has worked, with his wife, for many years in their hotel business in mountainous Achaia, the only place he fell in love with away from the sea.
The participation of his ancestors in all the wars of Greece and especially the story of his grandfather Dimitrios Alexopoulos sparked his interest in learning the family history and studying the recent history of the country.
He has published a novel entitled “Two Straw Hats” (2019, Pigi) and has also written several children’s stories that he reads to friends and their children.
He has traveled to various countries of the world in Europe, America, Africa, Asia, Antarctica and the Arctic Circle, but he could not live in any other country in the world except Greece.
He has a son and lives in Palaio Psychiko.
