The exhibition “On Libraries”, which is hosted at the Library of ESIEA “Dimitris I. Pournaras”, has been extended until 25 November 2022. It is a rare collection of engravings, photographs and historical publications from the material of the website “About Libraries- aboutlibraries.gr”

At the opening event, the new actions of the digital encyclopedia, which includes more than 3,500 items, were presented.

The exhibition is accompanied by a bilingual catalogue in Greek-English in both printed and electronic form as well as a video tour of the exhibition space.

Speakers of the event were Mr.Prokopios Pavlopoulos, former President of the Hellenic Republic, Mrs.Anna Diamantopoulou, President of the “Network”, President of the EU Commission for the Future of the Welfare State, former Commissioner of the European Union and former Minister, Mrs.Evi Sachini, Director of the National Documentation Centre & Electronic Content (EKT) and Mr.Konstantinos Sp. Staikos, founder and representative of the “Philovibles Garden”.

The purpose of the exhibition, apart from the promotion of “About Libraries – aboutlibraries.gr” and the official presentation of the “Philovibles Garden”, is to make the method followed for the enrichment and organisation of this digital encyclopaedia known to the general public and experts alike. Thus, sixteen showcases present unique illustrative material from the collection of the Phototheque of the website www.aboutlibraries.gr, depicting historical libraries from the Byzantine era, the Italian Renaissance and the Enlightenment, as well as thinkers, Greeks and Europeans in particular, in their libraries or in the company of their books.

The exhibition “About Libraries – aboutlibraries.gr” is open to the public at the ESIEA Library “Dimitris I. Pournaras” (20 Akadimias & Voukourestiou, 2nd Floor) until November 25, 2022 (opening hours: Monday-Friday: 10.00-14.00).
