Chrysa Nikolaou of Eleftherios has been appointed Director General of the National Library of Greece (NLG), by decision of the Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports Kyriakos Pierrakakis.
She is an archivist, librarian and museologist, a graduate of the Ionian University with postgraduate studies in Cultural Management and Historical Demography. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, Department of Sociology. She has extensive professional experience in libraries and in recent years she worked at the Library of the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation as Head Librarian. Her research interests include the role of the Library in the Information Society through networking and the creation of social capital. She has participated in research projects and has participated in various trainings and trainings in Greece and abroad. She is married and mother of three children.
The above position is full-time and exclusive, and its term is four years, renewable once.
