The Book Publishers’ Association, as every year, this year too, will present a series of events in the framework of the Book Festival at Pedion tou Areos. The programme for the three-day period from 06 to 08 September 2024 is structured as follows:

An event dedicated to emerging poets.

The moderator and presenter of the event will be the writer and literary critic Dr. Konstantinos Bouras.

Nikolas Tzivelakis Shadow Theatre-“Environmental pollution and the transformation of Karagiozis”

Green mountains and forests are destroyed, burned, cut down every year and replaced by high-rise buildings and factories. A single tree is left in the neighborhood of Karagiozis, which acquires metaphysical properties. Nature, wanting to avenge man for these actions, gives an aspect to his animal character.

Karagiozis and his whole gang change their shape and regret their carelessness towards nature. Will a solution be found to save them?

“The Journey of Greek Music”

A concert-tour through the richness of Greek Music from Antiquity to the present day (in collaboration with the Apollonion Conservatory)

Greek music, like the Greek language, has a rich history that goes back more than 3,000 years. In this concert, the audience will have the opportunity to hear milestones of Greek musical history and tradition, starting with works based on the ancient lyre and ending with modern compositions for bouzouki!

“Franz Kafka in the Theatre –

The approach of the “Simeio Miden” Group”

The “Simeio Miden” Group and the director Savvas Stroumbos have been working extensively with the oeuvre of Franz Kafka since 2008.

Nikos Koskinas, Associate Professor at the University of Athens, and Maria Sikitano, PhD candidate at the University of Peloponnese, discuss Kafka in the theatre and the special approach of the “Simeio Miden” Group.

During the event, excerpts from the performances of the Group will be screened.
