VERGOS Auctions sets its festive appointment with collectors, the art lovers and art professionals, at the auction of 19th & 20th Century Modern Greek Paintings & Sculptures that will take place on Thursday, December 14th (6:00pm) at Zappeion. At the same time, the house’s regular exhibition with all the works of the auction, which will run from 11-13 December, opens its doors with free admission to the public.

With 129 important paintings and sculptures, whose initial estimate exceeds 2 million Euros, the upcoming auction is expected to attract the interest of Greek and foreign collectors. Among them, paintings and sculptures representing the personal artistic style of their great creators stand out, such as:

The “Three Figures (Women and Child)” by Giorgos Bouzianis, “Kardamyli” by Nikos Hadjikyriakos Gikas, “Baroque (Affichesmassicotées)” by Pavlos (Dionysopoulos), “Zalogo” by Giorgos Zongolopoulos, “Synthesis” by Nikos Engonopoulos, “Magnetic table with erotic sculpture” by Takis (Vassilakis), as well as “Agios Christoforos” by Konstantinos Parthenis and “Flevaris” by Yannis Tsarouchis.

The work “Woman” by the renowned and recently deceased Colombian painter and sculptor Fernando Botero, whose work is being auctioned for the first time on the domestic art scene, is also expected to attract collectors.
