The Mayor of Thessaloniki, Konstantinos Zervas, said the Special Urban Plan for the unification, regeneration and enhancement of the coastal area from Kalochori to Aggelochori, on the initative of the Region of Central Macedonia, will be one of the largest development projects in the new era.

Presenting the main points of the Special Urban Plan to the Municipal Council of Thessaloniki, the Regional Governor of Central Macedonia, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, noted that this project “will allow all of us – the state, the citizens, the businessmen and the organizations – to determine exactly the uses and the possibilities for regeneration”.

Mr. Tzitzikostas said that the 40 kilometres of the coastal front will include soft uses for business, sports and culture as well as a walking and cycling route along the coast. He said: “We want these 40 kilometres to be highlighted just as the area from the White Tower to the Megaron Concert Hall today, aiming to create a zone that will be enjoyed by visitors and local inhabitants, with significant activities by the Municipality of Thessaloniki”.
