The lyre as a stringed arched instrument has a presence throughout the Balkan peninsula. In Greece, the most widespread versions of the lyres are those found in Crete and the Dodecanese, while two lyres found in mainland northern Greece and more specifically in the regions of eastern Macedonia and Thrace remain unknown to the general public.

In the presentation the audience will enjoy the lyricists Alexios Partinoudis from Evros and Alexandros Papoutsis from Monastiraki in Drama who will analyze in the first part the repertoire, the construction and the social historical context of each lyre. The second part will be followed by a concert with tunes and songs from Drama and Thrace with Konstantinos Georgiadis on percussion of each region.
