In collaboration with the 25th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival that is taking place these days, VERGOS Auctions organizes an online charity auction, the proceeds of which will be donated entirely to support the hostel hosting Women Victims of violence and their children of the municipality of Thessaloniki. The auction will take place online from 9-16 March 2023 through the company’s website and includes the original work as well as 15 numbered screen prints of the poster of the 63rd Thessaloniki International Film Festival held last year, signed by its artist and creator, Dimitris Trimintzios (Taxis).

More specifically, at the suggestion of the Thessaloniki Festival, the poster created by visual artist Dimitris Trimintzios (Taxis) was donated pro bono by the artist to support the structure of women who have suffered abuse and their children. The creator has held two solo exhibitions in Italy and Portugal while he has participated in many group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. He has also illustrated books and collaborated with comic magazines, such as Babel magazine and has won awards in comic competitions in Greece and Europe. In recent years he has been actively participating in mural festivals painting large murals all over the world.

The poster’s theme depicts a female figure hovering over the city. She is the real-life superheroine, who transcends and transcends the countless roles assigned to her. It requires each and every one of us to see it through a new look.

The auction will be announced during the open discussion on “gendered violence: see, hear, speak” which will take place as a parallel action in the context of the organization of the 25th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival. Orestis Andreadakis, artistic director of the festival, stated about this charitable action and its purpose: “through the films of the program, as well as a wide range of parallel events, initiatives and discussions, the Thessaloniki Film Festival has as its constant aim to bring to the fore the burning issues, questions and problems of the Greek-and not only – society. Among the front-line issues is, beyond any doubt, gender-based violence and the countless manifestations it can take in our daily lives. It is our hope and expectation that this auction, which is organized with the kind support of VERGOS Auctions, will sensitize a large part of the public and will help to eliminate an issue that should become a priority for all of us both collectively and individually.”
