The “Lilian Voudouri” Great Music Library of the Friends of Music Association is organizing a retrospective exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the death of composer, pianist, conductor, and educator Konstantinos Kydoniatis (1908–1996). For the first time, more than 250 unique and rare artifacts are on display, drawn from both the Library’s collections and the personal archives of the composer’s family, as well as those of conductor and researcher Dr. Christos I. Kolovos, who also serves as the exhibition’s scientific curator. Together with musicologist Gabriella Spanò, they have jointly organized and designed the exhibition.
At the opening ceremony, which will take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., the curator—a distinguished scholar with thirty years of expertise—will speak about the honoree’s life and work, as well as about the exhibition itself, and will then lead the first guided tour for the attendees.
This will be followed by a short concert featuring works by Konstantinos Kydoniatis, performed by soloists Angeliki Kathariou, mezzo-soprano and professor in the Department of Musicology at the University of Macedonia, Marina Kolovou, cellist with the Greek National Opera Orchestra and member of the “Galan Trio,” and Apostolos Palaios, pianist and assistant professor of piano performance in the Department of Music Studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
The exhibition will run through September 25, 2026, and those interested can book a guided tour with Mr. Kolovos.
Admission is free to the public.
Guided tours are available by appointment at 210 72 82 553
