Job title: Specialized Scientist for Project Support

Full-time (during days and hours determined by the University of Cyprus depending on its needs (including working hours beyond normal working hours for all days of the week).

The University of Cyprus is currently accepting applications to fill one (1) full-time position of Project Support Specialist in the Systems and Information Technologies Section of the University of Cyprus Library, Nicosia, Cyprus, in the area of Library Systems and Information Technologies. The position will be under a fixed-term contract.

Filling the position is subject to the availability of funding.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

The qualifications required for the Project Support Specialist position are as follows:

– University diploma or degree or equivalent qualification in at least one of the following subjects or a combination of these subjects with any other subject from a recognised academic institution:

Computer Science and/or Information Technology (including Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering)

– Good knowledge of English language.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Provide technology support for staff, library users, public equipment.

– Support for specialized technological equipment.

– Monitor, support hardware and software.

– Centralized computer fleet management via Active Directory.

– Centralised management of Mac fleet via Jamf software.

– Management of Windows Server, Linux server.

– Management and monitoring of maintenance contracts.

– Cooperation with other services.

– Documentation of processes.

– Monitoring technological advances and trends in IT.

– Recommend and implement introduction of new technologies.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The duration of employment will be one year with the possibility of renewal for a further year (24 months in total). The gross monthly remuneration will amount to €1 146,00. This amount will be deducted from the employee’s contributions to the various State funds and any income tax. No provision is made for payment of the 13th salary.

The selected candidate will be asked to provide certified photocopies of diplomas from the Ministry of Education (for diplomas from private schools/universities in Cyprus) or from the Issuing Authority (for universities abroad).

Evaluation of applications

– At least three (3) shortlisted candidates who meet the required qualifications will be called for interview before a panel of three (3) members. Interviews are expected to take place within 30 days of the application deadline.
