The Ministry of Culture and the “Fivos Anogeianakis” Museum of Greek Folk Musical Instruments — Center for Ethnomusicology — are launching the series of commemorative events titled “MUSICIANS: Hubs of Cohesion, Links of Continuity” (2026–2027).

This is a dynamic initiative that focuses attention on the living bearers of tradition, highlighting the role of the folk musician as a guardian of collective memory and identity.

To mark the new introductory exhibit in the permanent exhibition, which is dedicated to the “people behind the instruments,” the Museum invited six leading virtuosos to donate musical instruments from their careers, creating “living cultural archives.” Through testimonies, audio recordings, and material artifacts, the museum experience engages with contemporary musical practice.

This year’s series of events (July–September 2026) honors six iconic figures: Takis Betzios, Yannis Vardas, Psarantonis, Stathis Koukoulakis, Fragiskos Tziotakis, and the memory of Petro-Loukas Chalkias.
