Three of classical music’s top contemporary names, acclaimed German violinist Anne-Zofi Mutter, Chinese piano superstar Lang Lang and legendary German conductor Christoph Essenbach will be on stage at the Roman Conservatory this summer.
The world-renowned soloists and conductor who has defined with his interpretations how we listen today to classical masterpieces are coming to Athens for two of the most anticipated concerts of this year’s Festival.

The most famous German violinist with a long career has played in all major halls around the world and has left her own distinct mark in classical music.
Anne-Zofi Mouter is a point of reference in the art world and for her great work has been honored with numerous international awards, including four Grammys.
Mutter, who began her career as a” child prodigy ” with the support of Herbert von Karajan, has managed with her virtuosic performances to create her own universe in World Music.
At the Herodion, the leading performer will play solos in three concertos and the nonet dedicated to the same (chamber music for nine instruments) by Andre Previn, which will be presented for the first time in Greece.
The stage of the Roman Conservatory will be shared with Anne-Zofi Mutter by Mutter’s Virtuosi, who have accompanied the great musician in her concerts since 2011. It is a string ensemble conducted and artistically guided by the renowned German violinist, which consists of scholars from the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation as well as other selected young musicians.

80 years of CMO-Grigg and Tchaikovsky’s works
A special musical moment for the festival is the meeting of the conductor who has conquered the world’s top orchestras and the exuberant modern piano star.
Christoph Essenbach and Lang Lang, ideally combining deep maturity with youthful flame, co-sign one of the most important artistic events of the summer.
The legendary conductor will conduct the Athens State Orchestra and the explosive soloist in Grigg’s Piano Concerto, while the evening will conclude with Tchaikovsky’s 4th Symphony.
It is a historic artistic event for Greek music, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Athens State Orchestra.
