On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, the research vessels OKEANIS and AMPHITRITE set sail from the Mytilene Marina as part of the training program for students in the MSc Program “Integrated Coastal Management” in the marine area of Steno, Mytilene.
The students were divided into groups and trained in the basic operating principles of the multibeam and the CTD system, as well as in practical sampling techniques using Niskin bottles, measuring water transparency with a Secchi disk, and collecting plankton samples using a zooplankton net with a mesh size of 200 μm.
This is an important educational component of the master’s program that focuses not only on theoretical but also on practical training for students.
