The QS World Rankings / Top Universities Organization (https://www.topuniversities.com/world-university-rankings?tab=indicators) is one of the most respected global providers of information on higher education. The QS World University Rankings is published annually and is considered one of the 3 most recognised university ranking lists, along with the Academic Ranking of World Universities and the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, which also includes the University of Cyprus.

For the year 2025, the QS World University Rankings will rank the top 1,503 universities in the world and this year 5,563 universities from 106 countries were ranked. QS rankings take data from scientific publications from a literature-based database on research activity developed by faculty and researchers at the universities being evaluated. The international character of the institution and its reputation are also taken into account, both in the market place, according to the opinion of more than 660,000 managers and executives of companies and organisations, and in the academic world, with the participation of some 2,000,000 academics. Finally, account is taken of the orientation of universities in relation to sustainability and the link with the sustainable development goals.
