The events organised by the Cultural Organisation of the Municipality of Patras to mark the 100th anniversary of the Asia Minor Catastrophe continue with the holding of an enriched open-air exhibition of digitally reprinted archival material, which concerns the five refugee settlements created in the city of Patras since 1923, from noon on Thursday 13 October in George Square.

These are the settlements in Agia Ekaterini, Agia Fotini, Fanariou – Nikea – Kalavryta and today’s G. Papandreou, Agia Triada, and Poorhouse at the height of the current railway line on Dimeon Beach.

The exhibition has also been enriched with material concerning the rural settlements that were created in the respective periods. Also on display are data relating to the first refugee associations and maps showing the full development of the settlements.

The theme of the exhibition is ‘The urban refugee settlements in Patras’. It was preceded by the development of open-air exhibitions in the Ipsila Alonia Square, Eleftherias Square and the Ptohokomion (Akti Dimeon).
