“Three composers in the Hospital”
18 & 19 September, 8.30 p.m. – Old Municipal Hospital of Patras
The musical narrative “Three composers in the Hospital” includes works written especially for the choir “Echo” and original music, combined with video art and narration. Hospitals were the main source of inspiration for the composers, along with the way the pandemic turned them into spaces of places of constant struggle, where the full range of human emotions unfolds. The selected texts approach this theme from various perspectives, with an emphasis on human pain and healing. Poems by G. Vizyinos, G. Souri, T. Livaditis, G. Varveris, D. Kosmopoulos, B. Brecht, G. Markopoulos, Z. Karelli and others will be recited.
Special mention is made of the Old Municipal Hospital of Patras and its place in the history of the city. Historical data were collected with valuable help from the book The history of the museum of the history of medicine Patras 2007, edited by the nephrologist-archaeologist Thanasis Diamantopoulos and the volumes with the Minutes of the Municipal Councils of Municipality of Patras with editing, introduction and notes by the historian Vasilis Lazaris, published by the Municipal Library of Patras.
