
| To mark Europe Day 2026, the National Youth Council (E.SY.N.) is organizing an open discussion on the role of young people in today’s Europe and their participation in shaping policies and decisions. The event aims to bring together representatives from politics, European institutions, the academic community, and civil society, highlighting both the challenges and opportunities facing the younger generation in a time of constant change.
The event, titled “Youth & Europe: Shaping the Future,” will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., in the TMEDE Event Hall(Paleon Patron Germanou 3-5, Athens). The keynote speaker at the event will be Domna Michaelidou, Minister of Social Cohesion and Family. In the first panel, titled “Europe in Transition: Challenges, Prospects, and the Role of Youth,” Ioanna Lytrivi, Dimitris Tsiodras, Konstantinos Gloumis-Atsalakis, and Spyros Blavoukos will discuss political and social changes in Europe, the contemporary challenges facing the younger generation, and the role of young people in shaping Europe’s future. The panel will be moderated by Dimitris Lolitsas. The second panel, titled “Youth and European Politics: From Participation to Shaping Policy,” focuses on the younger generation and its relationship with European politics and civil society. Thanos Georgountzos, Elvira Mentzeloti, Rania Papadopoulou, and Athina Fatsa will share their experiences and reflections on youth participation in institutions, climate action, and the possibilities for meaningful representation in the public sphere. The panel will be moderated by journalist Fani Apospori. The event is organized in collaboration with the Group for International and European Affairs (ODETH), the House of Europe in Rhodes, the EU Youth Hub, and the Youth Climate Diplomacy Forum (YCDF). The event is organized with the support of the European Commission Representation in Greece, the European Parliament Office in Greece, Europe Direct ELIAMEP Attica, and the Greek Network of the Anna Lindh Foundation. The event is held under the auspices of the Fund of Civil Engineers and Contractors (TMEDE) and the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE). Admission is free to the public. |
