The National Historical Museum, on the occasion of the temporary exhibition “From Great…to Modern Greece (Part B): The Refugees,” which concludes at the end of the year, is organizing the performance “Tou hayadiou mou t’ aslama”* on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 7:30 p.m., written and performed by Filia Dendrinou.
This is a narrative performance based on an idea from Kostia Kontoleon’s book entitled “Slowly I Walk the Earth” (published by Enastron) and scattered testimonies from women who lived through the destruction of Smyrna (from original archival material).
Fairytale beliefs from the oral tradition of Asia Minor enter the main narrative, creating an environment of magical realism through a whirlwind of memories of a homeland and a society, a chapter but also a trauma in the history of our people. Precious remnants preserved through place names, names, or customs, through embroidery, song, or spells. A theatrical reinterpretation of historical events, guided by a bath attendant who converses in the hammam with the surreal element of legend.
Duration: 60 minutes (approx.)
* The title of the performance refers to a traditional lullaby from Cappadocia.
Entrance fee: 8 euros
With their admission ticket, visitors will have the opportunity to tour the temporary exhibition “From Great… to Modern Greece (Part B): The Refugees” before the start of the performance.
The exhibition will remain open from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
