
The festival “The Healing Powers of Art,” in collaboration with the Cultural Association of Paralia “Lianammos,” is organizing a tribute to the great and internationally renowned composer and thinker Yannis Christou, a very important representative of avant-garde music.
Yannis Christou, a pioneering figure in the world of contemporary music, left an indelible mark on the musical landscape. Born on January 8, 1926, in Heliopolis, Egypt, his work is renowned for its innovative approach and deep philosophical foundations. Despite his early death in a car accident on January 8, 1970, one day before his 44th birthday, his compositions continue to inspire musicians and audiences worldwide. His exploration of new musical languages and forms paved the way for future generations of composers. His works have been performed globally, earning admiration for their depth and originality.
Yannis Christou remains a significant personality in contemporary music. His visionary approach and ability to combine music with philosophical inquiry continue to captivate and challenge listeners. As we pay tribute to his life and work, we celebrate not only his achievements but also his lasting influence on the world of music and beyond.

Epikyklos.
Music workshop led by composer Kostis Zouliatis based on Yannis Christou’s method.
In Yannis Christou’s work, the “epikyklos” consists of the small events of people around—and within—the great universal History, which starts from the unexplored depths of Prehistory and reaches into the distant future, the Meta-History according to Christou—that is, what transcends us both in time and space.
The workshop and the activities of Epikyklos are open to all interested participants, regardless of musical knowledge or other criteria.

Performance. Presentation of the performance that will be created by all participants in Epikyklos at the Theater of the Paralia Elementary School.
