Do you want to show the world what makes Lesvos a UNESCO World Geopark?
Then take part in the international competition of the World Geoparks Network!
It is a unique opportunity for the local communities of the island to showcase the potential and unique characteristics of their natural and cultural heritage!
The competition is organised by the World Geoparks Network in the framework of the celebration 20 years since its establishment, a network in which Lesvos is a pioneer as it has been a member since its inception. The competition is open to the 213 UNESCO World Geoparks from 48 countries around the world, with the aim of each geopark promoting its unique features to the world. The competition opens up a unique opportunity for Lesvos to be showcased in all these regions worldwide.
The competition consists of 3 thematic competitions, dedicated to the following themes:
An Odyssey of earth
Photography competition open to all photographers, regardless of age.
Stone Stories
Contest open to all inhabitants of a UNESCO World Geopark, regardless of age.
The Five Senses of your Geopark
The competition is open to all young people aged 12-18 years old living within a UNESCO World Geopark. Each participant may submit a maximum of one entry. Entries can be individual or the result of joint work by a class or youth club.
The winners of the ‘An Odyssey of earth’ and ‘ Stone Stories’ competitions will win a 5-day trip with all expenses covered for transport, accommodation, food and guided tours to a UNESCO World Geopark.
