After the museum costume collections, which were established in the second half of the 20th century, archival units dealing with clothing are now coming to document costume practice: archives of creators (fashion designers and theatrical costume designers), documents that record in various ways the costume habits of social groups are collected and archived, constituting another source of data valuable for costume research.
In the 11th Workshop on Costume Studies ” Costume and Archives”, organized by the Hellenic Costume Society, examples of best practices from abroad are complemented with a first overview of costume documentation in Greek archives, aiming to highlight the various ways in which archival material stored in public and private institutions can contribute to the study of clothing. The conference will be free to the public and accessible online at https://unibe-ch.zoom.us/j/64457673057
Among the speakers and participating institutions are Marco Pecorari, Associate Professor New School Parsons Paris, Emilio Pucci Heritage Hub, Westminster Menswear Archive, Central Service of the General State Archives, ELIA/MIET Performing Arts Archive, Filep Motwary, Editor-at-Large Vogue Greece, ATOPOS cvc, etc.
