The MSc Public Health, the Laboratory of Public Health of the Department of Medicine and the Laboratory of Stage Acting and Speech of the Department of Theatre Studies of the University of Patras organize the 8th conference: Public Health in the Spotlight, entitled Public Health, Art and Solidarity, on Monday 2 December 2024 at the Conference and Cultural Centre of the University of Patras.

The conference is an event open to the public, emphasizing the values of Public Health, art and solidarity through scientific presentations, interactive discussions and artistic activities.

In the first session, entitled “Public Health and Solidarity“, speakers will address issues related to supporting vulnerable populations, vaccination as an act of solidarity and the role of solidarity in promoting mental health.

The second session, entitled “Sport, Art and Solidarity“, will include a discussion on stories of inclusion, while the event will conclude with the contemporary dance performance “Dancing (fancy)” by the Contemporary Dance Group Proschima, which explores the multiple aspects of the human body and its acceptance. Contemporary Dance Group Proschima

The performance explores the multiple aspects of the body and its characteristics, focusing on what is not necessarily acceptable in public space as well as on stage.

The action is implemented with the support of the Ioannis S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation under the “Points of Support” programme co-funded by 10 charitable organisations. The project was funded by the Ministry of Culture and Sports 2022-2023, ‘Culture Moves Europe’ and by ‘iJuLa – intersectional JugendLabore im Veedel’.
