On August 29, 2024, a unique musical evening with works of the international classical repertoire of the 19th and 20th centuries will take place at the “Dionysios & Ingrid Kountouriotis” event hall of the GSA/IAMY.
In collaboration and co-organization with the Cultural Club of Hydra, which has been presenting young and old artists on the island for years, the GSA / Historical Archives-Museum of Hydra on Thursday 29 August at 20.30 presents the virtuoso pianist PANAGIOTIS TROCHOPOULOS.
Born in November 1982 in Veria, the Greek virtuoso pianist and student of the legendary Nikolai Petrov graduated with distinction from the Moscow Conservatory in 2006.
He has appeared in major venues and international festivals, offering exemplary performances of the most demanding works of piano literature – such as the Third Concerto of RACHMANINOFF, the Second Concerto of BRAHMS and the “Blue Rhapsody” of GERSHWIN in a special concert that marked Croatia’s accession to NATO.
Panagiotis Trochopoulos was presented at the Moscow Concert Hall as one of the “Rising Stars of the Russian Piano School”, where he also performed the Russian premiere of ALKAN’s unapproachably difficult “Solo Piano Concerto”
In May 2024 he held at the Athens Concert Hall the national premiere of the BUSONI Concerto (without exaggeration of Everest of piano literature) with the Athens Philharmonia Orchestra under the baton of Byron Fidetzis.
The concert will feature works by: Granados (Goyesca no.4 “The Girl and the Nightingale”), Chopin (Nocturne, op.15 no.1), Schubert / Liszt (“Aufenthalt” and “Erlkonig”), Chopin (Nocturne, op.15 no.2), Saint-Saens (Study in Waltz form, op.52 no.6), Liszt (Hungarian Fantasy) and Liszt (Totentanz).
(The proceeds of the concert will be donated for the purposes of the Cultural Club of Hydra.)
