The online contemporary art gallery Braggart Gallery, which moves between the internet and physical spaces, inaugurates the first Art Box Gallery at number 55 Papakiriazi Street at the junction with Skarlatou Soutsou in the center of Larissa, with the presentation of the solo exhibition Reflective Symmetry: A journey through the Kaleidoscope by the artist Maria Zisopoulou, from 14 June to 20 August 2023. The opening of the space and the exhibition will take place on Wednesday 14 June at 20:30, 55 Papakiriazi Street, Larissa.

The exhibition that you are presenting deals with the interaction with nature and the natural environment, a process of integrated experience that combines imagination and observation.

The series of digital works “Kaleidoscopes” emerged from observing the details of nature, in an attempt to capture its beauty through its lens. The multiple reflections in the original image caused Maria Zisopoulou to experience a sense of magic and mystery as natural forms are transformed into something completely different, a discovery of beauty through symmetry. Through the kaleidoscopes, nature becomes an endless play of shapes and colors. This new reality created is a multidimensional, colorful and symmetrical image that reflects the beauty of nature in a unique and enchanting way. Kaleidoscopes are an example of the quest for finite knowledge. They represent the complexity of human knowledge and truth and enhance the quest for a more complete understanding of the world and ourselves. They are closely linked to the subconscious and imagination.

The philosophy about kaleidoscopes refers to our perception of reality and how it is subjective, a kaleidoscopic image can be interpreted differently by each viewer and this highlights the fact that our perception of reality is subjective and influenced by our personal experiences and perceptions. Furthermore, they can highlight our perception of symmetry and balance in our world. Symmetry is a basic principle in physics and art, kaleidoscopes with their symmetrical images give us an opportunity to explore this basic principle and understand its existence in the world around us because they allow us to see reflexive symmetry, rotational symmetry and translational symmetry in a single image. As we observe these images we can see the world in a different way and discover hidden symmetries that are not obvious in our everyday perception, they bring out the subconscious and instinct.

Maria Zisopoulou‘s research into kaleidoscopic patterns and her search for symmetry and inversion in photography reveals how complex our interaction with the world around us is and how art can help us discover and express this complexity. It seeks to open a dialogue about the nature of our interaction with the world and how to understand this relationship through the mysteries hidden in kaleidoscopic patterns.

The online contemporary art gallery Braggart inaugurates its first Art Box Gallery at number 22 of Papakiriazi Street at the junction with Skarlatou Soutsou in the center of Larissa, on the ground floor of a new building of minimal aesthetics with dynamic lines, where white and black dominate the facades of the modern multi-storey building, which was completed in 2022. It is literally a white box with a large window where the viewer’s gaze penetrates the interior of the space. The showcase made of black iron around the perimeter will accommodate each time on the glass, the name of the artist to be presented. At the bottom of the glass is the signature of the gallery with its black logos . Above the window and behind the white concrete frame that runs around the perimeter of the building, concealed lighting accentuates the architectural design and provides light where it is needed to highlight the Art Box Gallery’s appearance. Cool lighting and black light inside the interior to highlight the works displayed in each exhibition, painting, sculpture, installation, performance, video art.

Changing the whole appearance of the courtyard covered space in front of the Box Gallery’s window, can accommodate the friends for the welcome drink of the opening of the current exhibition and watch performance.  The minimal desk is accompanied by two classic chairs that were refreshed and dressed in linen off-white fabric to accompany the minimal desk, underlining and connecting the relationship between the modern and the old, they are also the unique objects in the interior space that will be removed or replaced each time according to the needs of the concept. This is Braggart Contemporary Gallery’s first Art Box Gallery and hopes to create the next one in another city.  “Now Just Bragging” /Just Bragging!!!!
