The human being through the history of art, the different eras, everyday life, equality, diversity, social inclusion. The human being today. The human being in the future.
Join our International Kids’ Art Contest!
The Museum of Cycladic Art’s International Kids’ Art Contest celebrates its 10th anniversary this year! The contest with the title “The Human being at the center” will be launched on January 23, 2023 with a deadline for submissions on May 30, 2023, inviting young friends aged 4-15 to capture the role of Human beings through their journey across time and space.
The children’s works will be presented from September 23 to 29 2023 in a large on-site exhibition at the City of Athens Arts Centre, organized by the Museum with the collaboration of City of Athens Culture, Sports and Youth Organization (OPANDA).
The International Kids’ Art Contest is one of the most successful initiatives of the Museum of Cycladic Art, with thousands of children from Greece and abroad, from special schools and refugee reception and integration centers participating each year. This year’s main character is the Female Figurine (ca. 2700-2400/2300 BC) which is on display on the 1st floor of the Museum in the permanent “Cycladic Art” exhibition. The human form takes us back in time, 5000 years ago, when humans created the Cycladic Figurines, one of the most distinctive forms of Human representation ever made.
In this year’s International Kids’ Art Contest, we will create art inspired by the transformations of humans through the history of cultures, the works and the environment that they create.
Which era do they live in and what kind of clothes do they wear?
What country are they from?
What kind of social message are they passing on?
Can we imagine what their future may look like?
What kind of environment will they live in and what will be their profession?
Pick the materials and the colors you like, create your own “Human being” and send us your work by mail until May 30th.
The members of this year’s selection committee are:

Digital platform kidscontest.gr
The digital platform kidscontest.gr doesn’t serve only as a medium for the contest: Children can browse it all year round and participate in a series of monthly activities from home and from school, which are also accessible to children with disabilities.
-“LEARN” Section
The educational material included in the “LEARN” section is mainly addressed to teachers and refers to the Cycladic Civilization that emerged in the Cyclades 5000 years ago. It aims to familiarize children with the lifestyle and the art that flourished in the Cyclades, these small islands in the Aegean Sea, in the 3rd millennium BC. Children can learn, research, discuss and play, at school or at home, inspired by issues related to History, Art and the world around us.
-“ACTIVITIES” Section
In this section, you can discover new home or school activities each month!
With inspiration drawn from the permanent exhibitions of the Museum of Cycladic Art, some artistic activities were prepared with an emphasis on the creative process and the interaction of children with different materials and techniques.
The Home Activities along with the activity videos are aimed at children aged 4-6 years and 7-10 years.
Art for All includes activities that can be adapted according to the difficulties faced by different groups of children. It is aimed at special education teachers or formal education teachers whose class may include students with learning difficulties, teachers in integration classes, parallel support tutors, parents, and anyone who wishes to spend creative time with their child.
The 10th International Kids’ Art Contest and the kidscontest.gr digital platform are implemented with the support of Eurolife FFH, Strategic Partner of the Museum of Cycladic Art and RAYCAP, Supporter of the Educational Programs of the Museum of Cycladic Art.
