Seventeen theatre groups, music and dance groups put their own signature in the section of the Amateur Theatre Festival, which takes place again this year under the auspices of the Patras International Festival.

With the general title “Summer on the Fountain…Summer of Culture”, the festival aspires for one more year to become the institution through which amateur creation will find a platform for expression.

On the occasion of the opening of the performances, the President of the Cultural Organization Katerina Geropanagioti said in a statement.

We are creating new cultural spaces, such as the Multisite of Culture in the Ichthyoskala and the Municipal Summer Theatre of the Municipality of Patreon and we offer cultural projects and actions in every neighbourhood with the Mobile Cinema, the Shadow Theatre, the “Arma Thespidos” of the DIPETHE .

We consistently support the Amateur Theatre Festival which in previous years has been a pleasantly outstanding event. We hope that it will be well received and embraced by the people of Patras this year as well.”

The chairman of the organizing committee of the Amateur Theatre Festival Konstantinos Tsouramanis for his part stresses: “By embracing more and more amateur theatre groups, young artists and all those professionals who wish to contribute to this effort of our city pro bono, the Amateur Theatre Festival of the Municipality of Patras gives them a platform for expression and creativity in the cultural amateur movement, so that they can contribute to a better, happy and creative life, not only during the days of the festival, but throughout the year in the school, in the association, in the village, in the district…”
