We invite you to the presentation of the fairy tale on Wednesday 31/07/2024 at 20:00 at the Thirathen Museum, on the topic of Greek tradition and its timeless value. Parents and children will have the opportunity to enjoy the book by the renowned researcher and teacher of Cretan dances Yiannis Megalakakis entitled “Grandfather’s Steps” with the excellent illustration of Dimitra Peppa.

The tale supports the World Council of Cretans. The main messages of the fairy tale are the value of the timelessness of the Greek language

of culture, how modern Greeks and future generations should deal effectively with culture and how important it is for a child of the modern era to learn and experience the music and dance traditionof his place. All the names of the heroes of the fairy tale are inspired by the history of Crete. Through the fairy tale, the child has the opportunity to meet great personalities of Megalonis.

Dance is a vehicle that carries Greekness, Hellenism and the Greek language to the ends of the earth and through the centuries. Little Vicenzos, who is the protagonist of the tale, will understand through the stivania (Cretan men’s boots) the value of the culture he represents and the essential reason that every child should learn to dance and sing the purposes and dances of the place of.

It is the third book by Yiannis Megalakakis, who this year celebrates 30 years of teaching and introducing Cretan dances to people of all ages.
