The “Lilian Voudouri” Music Library of The Friends of Music Society organizes an exhibition with first editions of music books with Byzantine notation from its own collection and from the K. A. Psachos Library of the Department of Music Studies in the University of Athens. The exhibition takes place in the framework of the eighth International Conference of Musicology and Chanting under the general title “Theory and Practice of Psaltic Art”, organized by the Institute of Byzantine Musicology together with the Holy Archdiocese of Athens and the Department of Music Studies in the University of Athens. The conference will focus on “The Musical Typography of Psaltic Art, bicentennial 1820/21–2021” and will take place on 15-18 December 2021 at the Cultural Centre of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens Αθηνών, with fringe events comprising this exhibition in the reception area of the “Lilian Voudouri” Music Library. It includes 55 first edition from 1820 to 1900, curated by Gabriella Spanò, musicologist of the Library, and Dimitris Balageorgos, Associate Professor of Byzantine Musicology and Psaltic Art at the University of Athens.
