The fourth lecture of the Tamasion Free University, on “Intelligence and Real Education”, will take place on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 7 p.m. at the Synod of the Holy Metropolis of Tamasos and Orini in the Episkopio community. The event is open to the public, inviting all those interested in exploring the deeper connection between intelligence and education.

Mr. George Spanoudis, Professor at the Department of Psychology of the University of Cyprus, will be the keynote speaker of the evening, while the moderator will be Mr. Timotheos K. Papadopoulos, also Professor at the Department of Psychology at the same university. The lecture will analyse the relationship between intelligence – which includes the ability to understand complex concepts, adaptability, learning from experience and problem solving – and education, which is an organised system of apprenticeship aimed at socio-emotional cultivation and the acquisition of knowledge and skills.

The discussion will focus on the research challenges arising from the connection between these two concepts, while at the same time it will attempt to answer the crucial question: how can we design a real education that is not limited to the transmission of knowledge and skills, but that comprehensively cultivates the education of young people, so as to achieve the objectives of the modern curricula of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth.

The lecture will be broadcast live via the Cyprus Radio Foundation’s YouTube channel, allowing interested parties from Cyprus and abroad to watch the lecture. The link to the live broadcast is: https://bit.ly/3eaAvf2.
