A large number of people, representatives of the political, academic and business world and the ecosystem of culture, tourism and the creative industry, as well as elected officials of the Local Government, honored with their presence the opening of the interactive temporary exhibition “GEO Mythology | from Myth to Truth”, which took place on Friday, May 6, 2022 at the Museum of Paleontology and Geology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

The exhibition on Greek mythology and natural phenomena is organized by TETRAGON SA and the Department of Historical Geology and Palaeontology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and is the final result of the research project “INNOVEXPO – Development of innovative applications for the enriched and interactive presentation of exhibitions”, which was implemented during the period 2018-2022 in the framework of the National Scope Action “Research – Create – Innovate”.

At the opening ceremony, the Vice Rector for Research and Lifelong Education, Mr. Nikolaos Voulgaris, the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, Mr. Ioannis Emmanuel, the Geologist-Paleontologist, Professor of the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment of the University of Athens and Scientific Manager of the project, Dr. Evterpi Koskeridou, and the General Manager of TETRAGON SA, architect Mr. Yotis Ioannidis.

The event was attended by, among others, the Head of the Office of the Deputy Minister of Development and Investment, Mr. Michael Dritsas, the Deputy Mayor of Education, Civil Protection, Tourism and Ecology of the Municipality of Kaisariani, Mr. Emmanuel Kitsellis, and the Head of the Special Management Service of the EPRANEK, Mrs. Angeliki Fetsi, while from the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation, the Head of the EIDHR-ETAK, Mrs. Eleni Poulakaki, attended, the Head of the Directorate for Planning and Programming of Research and Innovation Policies and Actions, Ms Agni Spilioti, and the Head of the Research and Innovation Communication and Promotion Department, Ms Xenia Kasdovassili. From the RTD Project Management Unit, Ms. Paraskevi Dilana participated, while from the Planning and Programming Department of the GERD, Mr. Antonis Gypakis, Head of the Department, and Mr. Vassilis Gongolidis.

The opening event included a guided tour for the public and a demonstration of the digital interactive applications, which play a dominant role in the exhibition. Visitors commented warmly on the originality of the exhibition and the way in which it manages to link myth and science through a hands-on experience.

The exhibition GEO Mythology | From Myth to Truth will remain open until December 2022, with free admission for the public.
